Removing colour at a large Potable Water Treatment Works
A Water Utility providing water to a major city was suffering from the effects of high colour in raw water entering the Water Treatment Works during periods of high rainfall. The existing slow sand filters could not cope with these peaks and the water regulator had issued a deadline for works to be completed to ensure compliance with statutory limits.
Scope
Brimac Environmental Services were approached to recommend a rapid, cost effective solution that could be incorporated within the constraints of an existing treatment works.
Program
Brimac conducted a full scale process audit at the client’s facilities before developing bespoke technologies which could be easily and cost effectively integrated into the established slow sand filter systems while leaving the system flexible for future developments.
Outcome
Final water was immediately improved and consent levels were met within time and budget. An upgrade initiative is now planned based on the success of the first project.
